Fight Club (1999)



Fight Club was initially considered a box-office flop but people bent together and made it a cult phenomenon. The movie revolves around an insomniac office worker, looking for a way to change his life who crosses paths with a devil-may- care soap maker eventually forming an underground fight club that evolves into something much more. The lives of two mob hit men, a boxer, a gangster’s wife, and a pair of diner bandits intertwine in four tales of violence and redemption. Ultimately, the two men spiral out of control and engage in the competitive rivalry for love and power. The film has definitely stood the test of time and remains feeling like a fresh and unique in comparison to the many Western films of that era.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)



It is one the coolest films of all time. Sergio Leone’s masterpiece is the epitome of Western films and redefined the genre along with Ennio Morricone’s unforgettable score. This fast paced thriller revolves around the civil war in America but it doesn’t become a focused aspect as the film focuses on the characters and the end goal which was great.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)



The Return of the King wraps up the trilogy with an enthralling piece of work. From the battle of multiple armies to the final destruction of the ultimate evil forever, this movie is a must see and brings an emotional but satisfying end to this unexpected journey. There are friendship, sacrifice, and triumph. This film is an emotional roller coaster of epic proportions. This is a masterpiece with many Oscar worthy performances from the talented cast.

Pulp Fiction (1994)



The story revolves around, how 6 people’s lives are all intertwined in an action packed tale of gun violence, drug-use, murder, and vulgarity. The dialogue is witty and entertaining. In the beginning scene, the two main characters, Vic and Jules, are having a conversation about Big Macs and if you didn’t know any better, you may just assume that they’re having a normal chit chat before work. The film won the Oscar award for best original screenplay. With the iconic soundtrack and phenomenal dialogues, this American Classic is one the best watch.

Schindler’s List (1993)



This Great phenomenal movie is directed by one of the best directors Steven Spielberg. This black and white aesthetic has great cinematography. This film is so emotional. It shows the reality of world if you were a Jew at that time and you still get the uplifting Spielberg feeling at the end that will leave you in tears. The acting is classic especially from Ralph Fiennes. John Williams also gives an incredible score that you will never forget.

12 Angry Men (1957)



12 Angry Men is a great example that not everything is good with just special effects, but with acting too. This movie is about a lone juror who believes the accused to be not guilty under terms of reasonable doubt when faced with 11 others who strongly disagree and the demand for a unanimous verdict. A brilliant star-cast perform one of the best scripts ever written to excellence. The movie does not show the case, which leaves the evidence and testimonies gradually unveil through the film. All the performances are excellent. Superbly directed movie ’12 Angry Men’ is without a doubt a timeless classic.

The Dark Knight (2008)



The plot of this film is unbelievably complex and realistic. Unlike other superhero’s straightforward storyline, Christopher Nolan took it to the whole new level by taking out unnecessary subjects that could ruin the movie and replaced them with a darker tone. The Oscar winning performance from Heath Ledger brought a whole new chapter with his psychopathic and brilliant portrayal of Joker. Christian Bale proves that he is worthy to wear the cape, showing restraint and true emotion. This movie stands out as an absolute classic superhero film.

The Godfather: Part II (1974)



This movie is an improvement over the first entry that, despite still being overlong and convoluted. The great screenplay It tells a story that is so much more sincere than just about anything that comes out now. With the sincere screenplay, It is one of the best sequels ever made. 6 Oscar wins, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro are the only two actors to ever win separate Oscars for portraying the same character. Nino Rota won an Oscar for his music score in ‘Part II’ despite being disqualified for the first part of the film.

The Godfather (1972)



It is a well-directed movie about the rise and fall of a mafia family, the Corleones, in late 1940s New York. The actions portrayed in this movie, more than perhaps any other crime drama, often feel warranted and this with the setting and beautiful shooting of the film culminate into a masterfully told story that though one can not condone, one can understand. This movie has the beautiful piece of cinematography and a transcendental work in all aspects. Marlon Brando is ridiculously good and iconic as the Godfather. This movie is worth watching.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994)



Shawshank Redemption is full of emotions and inspiration and a must watch film. The movie revolves around two imprisoned men bond over a number of years, finding solace and eventual redemption through acts of common decency. The movie says there is something inside us that no one can get to and no one can touch it; that’s our hope.
